NL Day 4
Isle aux Morts
While waiting in line for a table, with the servers bustling about and ignoring me, the guy behind me said ‘why don’t they like us?’. As we were batting around some options, a server came by and asked ‘table for two?’. I said, er, no, two tables for one. She said well I’ll sit you together if you want. I hemmed and he hawed, and she said ‘follow me’ into the mostly empty huge dining room. She sat us at 2 neighbouring tables facing each other. It was kind of awkward so we had to chat.
Turns out he’s been travelling on the ferry almost weekly for 30 years. He’s a cross country mover. I asked him if his truck was down below. He said only the tractor, not the trailer. He was retrieving the tractor from the repair guy in Montreal after he had hit a moose. Near Quebec city! I asked if he was driving home to Trinity today, he said no, too dangerous. Too many moose out at night..
Then he told me he used to sleep in the truck on the loading ramp until one night the ferry almost rolled over. Never slept there again.
I was really pleased that I had to look out the window to see if the boat was moving.
Then Sandy and I were walking along the road in Isle aux Morts when this dude in an F150 slowly stopped beside us After hearing his life story for 20 minutes, he wished us well and drove off. Quite the life. The Airbnb host also told us his life story. Is this what they do here?
Isle aux Morts

Looks pretty! Many life stories, did you tell yours??
Some. I felt it was rude to interrupt!
Ya gotta love small towns. It’s the people that give them so much flavor.
Wonderful images!
Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing
Lovely photos. Very desolate.
The overcast light is really nice – look forward to the slideshow!
Yup. We’ve had to learn to leave extra time to accommodate all the chatting. 🙂
