Day 1 – Kingston to Oswego

When Sandra delivered me to the dock at 0730, there was already a party in progress. Many of Lisa’s nautical friends had gathered to see her off on the voyage of her dreams. After years of planning and preparations, she is finally setting sail.

Well we’re didn’t actually sail. It was a beautiful sunny but windless day. Lake Ontario was flat and glassy, so the motor stayed on, and on, and on. Along the way an American Goldfinch stopped by for a snack of bugs. Then a Monarch butterfly hitched a ride for a while. Then I focused on swatting flies which had moved aboard. Last count was 2427. I think they breed on the fly, so to speak. Ok there weren’t really that many, but there were a lot.

Nine and a half hours later we were tied up at the town dock in Oswego, NY. Altogether a very fine day and a great start. I’m honored to be part of what will be the adventure of her lifetime.
