Inside the book store

Days 14, 15.

Marlboro to Nyack.

Easy run down the river and at anchor around 3pm. One of Lisa’s best friends lives here, and is the reason why she had planned this stop from the beginning. Lisa and Kim have known each other for over 40 years. Apparently there were shenanigans while traveling together in Europe all those years ago. A half hour before we arrived Kim texted Lisa saying she tested positive for covid!

They agreed to meet anyway but without hugs. We went ashore loaded with laundry for Kim (thanks Kim!). Lisa had a visit and I toured downtown Nyack. Got a haircut! We returned to Karuna in the dark.

The next morning we heard from Kim that she had misread the test and she didn’t have covid after all! Something else I guess. So back to shore we went. After a good coffee and pastry we wandered around waiting to meet Kim.

She roared up in her BMW 430i coupe and kindly took us shopping for oil for the Westerbeke, gas for the dingy and a new rain jacket for me at Dicks Sporting Goods. Lisa and I returned to Karuna to drop me off and she returned to shore to spend the evening and night at Kim’s.

I like the town. Coffee shops, antique stores, book stores, and restaurants. Greek, Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, French, Japanese, various pubs, Himalayan, Ukrainian all in a 2 block stretch. I had the Italian and the Thai. Both excellent.
