NL Day 14 – Cobbs Arm, sunshine, icebergs and music.

Spent the day nearby our Airbnb in Cobbs Arm, and made some great memories. We just drove around and found Pikes Cove lookout. On the way we stopped and chatted to a nice guy who said it has the best views in this part of NL. True. See pics below.

There was also a huge iceberg visible down the coast. While taking it all in, said nice guy showed up. Of course we had more chatting. Turns out he’s from Guelph, retired to Annopolis Royal (Nova Scotia), and it’s now fixing up his cottage in Pikes Cove. Anyway he said the iceberg is 10 km away! He also asked If we had seen the berg next to our lodging!! He explained how to hike in to see it.

After more driving around we returned and set out to find the local iceberg. The trail in is about 100 meters up the road, and passes by a cemetery, through a very muddy area, into an open area with 2 horses and an iceberg. More stunning scenery.

We had dinner in Twillingate, discovered my new favorite beer (Quiddy Vidi 1892), and watched a great show by a local, but famous, singer, songwriter and story teller named Mike Sixonate. Definitely worth a listen.

On the drive home there were no moose to be seen. When we got home there was no power. That was fun too.
